Grab the google desktop , it has everything from calender to notes functions, if you using windows 7 x64 them Google Desktop 5.9 and later is compatible with 64-bit versions of Windows XP and Vista. And also refer to this useful thread for you How to put iGoogle gadgets on Windows 7 desktop .

In Windows 7, Windows Mail, Windows Calendar, Windows Photo Gallery, and Windows Movie Maker are part of Windows Live Essentials. So you just need Windows Live Essentials to get all of that stuff back. Download it here http://download.live.com/
