    angry Internet Explorer Connection Problems

Hello. I'm having a right mare with my laptop. The wireless is connected, data and updates of programs can be sent and recieved, but the Internet Explorer, Mozilla Firefox, iTunes or MSN messenger will not connect to the internet and theres nothing I can seem to do to resolve it. System restore will not work on it, altering the firewall will not and the anti-virus software scans as normal, but isnt picking anything up... any ideas?

    Thanks, livelinesman

The best place to start is by looking at the Windows Update error logs to see what the exact nature of the problem is. The first thing to do when Internet Explorer is misbehaving is empty your Internet Explorer cache. Often the cache is not corrupt or damaged – it is simply too large. In Windows XP, this log is kept at %SystemRoot%WindowsUpdate.log and is a plain-text file that can be read with Notepad or another text editor.

Run the Network Diagnostics tool in Internet Explorer :
    • Start Internet Explorer, and then try to access the Web page that is displaying the error message.
    • On the page that displays an Internet Explorer error message, click the Diagnose Connection Problems link. The Network Diagnostics tool will run. When the tool has finished running, it will report one of the following results: It was unable to find a problem.
    • It has detected a problem. Additionally, the tool will provide guidance about the next steps to take to troubleshoot the problem.

    • Note Internet Explorer 6 users click Detect Network Settings
    • Click IP Address, and note the IP Address. You may need it for future troubleshooting.
    • Follow the steps in the Network Diagnostics tool to fix any connection problems.
    • Start Internet Explorer.

    Re: Internet Explorer Connection Problems

I had a similiar problem not so long back.
Changed the phone to a nice new shiny happy thingy and ........trouble.
I had used the cord that was in place with the old phone , rather than the new one that came in the kit.
new one old one what the hell?
    wasn't compatable was it?
Swapped it and everything now works tickety boo
Could this be similiar to your much needed solution????
Hope so as its dead cheap to rectify.
    Hugs
