Hi,
Recently I have installed iTunes 9, I am not able to SSH into my phone via putty or iPhone tunnel suite. Now go back to iTunes 8. I've lost my music before and I'm trying not to risk doing that again.
Try app cleaner that is freeware, that finds all these small files and safely deletes them. Also make sure to cancel out your itunes helper by going to system preferences/accounts/start up items and uncheck itunes 9 helper and then reinstall itunes 8.
Itunes cannot be responsible for ssh not working. To Downgrade iTunes 9 to itunes 8, Drag itunes9, trash along with the associated files in your iTunes preferences of the user preferences folder in the personal library folder. Then drag the library file to the trash, but you lose all your playlists, with the game, and ratings. Then reinstall Itunes8, then open and re-import the music.
To completely remove iTunes 9, follow the steps below :
1. Quit iTunes.
2. In the Finder, choose Go > Applications.
3. Locate iTunes and then drag it to the Trash.
4. Choose Go > Utilities. If Utilities is not available under Go, then choose Go > Go to Folder, type in /Applications/Utilities/, and then click Go.
5. Open Activity Monitor.
6. In the process list locate and select iTunes Helper. Click Quit Process. When asked if you really want to quit the process, click Quit.
7. Quit Activity Monitor.
8. Open System Preferences (choose Apple > System Preferences).
9. Choose View > Accounts and then click Login Items.
10. Look for the iTunesHelper entry and select it, then click the "-" button to remove it from the list.
11. Quit System Preferences.
12. Restart your Mac.
13. Empty the Trash. This should fully remove iTunes.
Then you can put the fresh copy of itunes 8.
