How to open a .nes file

Can any one tell me how to open a .nes file? Which software allows to download nes file? Are they related to system file or any software file. Any recommendations and suggestions are appreciated.

NES is a file extension associated with Nintendo ROM files. All the data from an NES game used to create the music is stored directly in the file. You can then use a NSF player to essentially emulate only the parts of the NES necessary for sound, to play the music in the NSF file.
