Unable to attach files in gmail

I am using gmail account, whenever i try to send any text file through my gmail account it gets stuck. I am running windows xp on my computer. The gmail won't allow me attach doc file also...

Are you sending large file ? The filename may be too long or include accented characters and also check your Internet connections and restart your Internet. Or it could be and invalid extension or you timed out or your attachment was too large.

Check firewall settings, better yet disable it entirely for 1 minute and see if you can send anything and follow the procedure to send the file > Click Attach a file under the subject field. Browse through your files and click the name of the file you'd like to attach. Click Open.Keep in mind that you can't send executable files or messages larger than 25 MB.

Try a different browser. If you're using Firefox and restarting it doesn't solve the issue, try sending from IE and also try to delete cache open browser > press ctrl shift del > delete cookies and clear the cache as well as the history >press F5 and refresh the browser.
