It's actually amazing that this simple function does not exist! it seems that the only possibility except as described above either through the media library. Check the media library feature in word 2007.

To insert an image from a scanner into a Word 2007 document, follow these steps:

    1. Start Word 2007.
    2. On the Insert tab, click Clip Art.
    3. In the Clip Art task pane, click Organize clips.
    4. In the File menu, point to Add Clips to the Clip, then click From Scanner or Camera.
    5. Select the image, click Add, then close the Microsoft Clip Organizer.

    Hi there,

I for someone who hates the ribbons, the marketing thinnggy to make you waste time over stuff you will probably burn fuel for nothing say. Yes it is true that at the surface there is no way to do so. However, since the shortcuts for office 2003 and below are still alive but agonizing from ... well let's not waste you time on this.

If you are using MS Word 2007, then just type the followings: Alt+I, P, S . In older MS Word language, this means, Alt+I -> access the old "insert menu", then "P" for "Picture", then S for "From Scanner" .

This works only in MS Word 2007 (in this context of question), however, it does not if you use Word as the editor for MS Outlook .

I have been using Word since version 2 on Windows 3.x . It is sad to see all these changes. I have read that option to get back the old menus would be available in Officer 2010 . I have not tried yet the beta version, however. This closes my long answer on the brief question.

    Good luck !
