My local drive (C:) remains full even after deleting so many files

Even after deleting a lot of large files from my local drive, it still keeps showing me that there is no free space. What can I do about this to remedy the situation?

Make sure you are able to view hidden files and folders go to tools > folder option > see there for view option then check show all hidden files click ok after this if you are not able to view hidden folder then problem is due to virus so use updated antivirus ..

For vidieos like *.avi can be up to 1 to 2 gb's for 15 min's
You need to go to // Start //Search ///What do you want to search for ? ////
Pictures, music. or video Search for all files of a cerain type, or search by type and name.///// Type Video //// All or of the file name: /////
Put in the box //// *.ave, *.wmv, *.dvd, *.mpg ///// Burner the Videos you love to keep and Delete it and Delete the one you do not keep.
For the see more then some free space !!!!

Have you deleted the files from Recycle bin also else it would stay there. When a file is deleted, the pointer for that file is removed from the FAT, rendering the actual file invisible to the operating system. That file stays right where you created it until you or your operating system saves a new file on the exact same spot that that file's position. To go a step further, if you were working on a Word document or removing it while installing a software program at the same time, portions of your document that was in the RAM,might get physically stored to the end of some of those files that are being installed this is called the "file slack".
