Why windows live asks for password

Hi,

I have this simple question to ask you here.

I have seen many time that when I try to check Hotmail the windows Live messenger asks me for password.

Can you please why this happens is this mean that my account is in danger?

Its just to check & maintain your account security. Dont worry.
There may be situations, such as when you use a public computer at a library or school, when you do not want Windows Live Messenger to remember your password.
For security purposes, you can choose to be prompted for your password. To have Messenger ask for your password when you check Hotmail or open other Windows Live ID sites and services:

1. Select Tools, and then click Options.
2. In the left pane, click Security.
3. Select the Always ask me for my password when checking Hotmail or opening other Microsoft Passport enabled Web pages check box.
