Open the Adobe Reader folder( installation folder which is saved in program files normally in C drive in windows xp ). Copy the nppdf32.dll file to the Firefox plugins folder. The nppdf32.dll is the same version as that in the main Adobe Acrobat folder. That nppdf32.dll file gets updated when you reinstall Acrobat Reader. Then go to the Edit menu and click Paste. Go to program files and look for Mozilla Firefox. Make sure you already copied (not cut) the .dll file mentioned above. Just paste it in through right clicking if you want.

The older Firefox 2.0 latest release runs fine and opens pdf files inside the browser window with no problems but pdf crashes Firefox 3. Try starting FireFox in safe mode and see if it still crashes or open the 'Tools' --> 'Options' > 'Applications' tab. Under this tab, change your default program for opening all Adobe Acrobat and Reader format documents to 'Adobe Reader v x.x.

The Download Embedded extension can cause Firefox to crash when trying to load a PDF file. To make sure your installation of Adobe Reader includes the latest security and stability updates, open the Adobe Reader program and click "Help -> Check for Updates" and also Check Adobe Reader settings and Re-install the plugin.

Fix the PDF not opening in Mozilla Firefox issue by reinstalling Adobe Reader. You need to uninstall Adobe Reader and re-install it to get the issue fixed. It is important to uninstall all versions of Adobe Reader that you may have in your system. Also, take care of installing the latest Adobe Reader for the browser.
