Exclamation Shared documents and external IP on sharepoint 2007

    hi,

Firstly, can anyone explain to me how with a open pot 81 i cant access our sever with that port and the public IP from my pc at home. It works fine with another program using the default port 80. Our firewall is allowing traffic in and out for port 80. THank you.

Secondly, in MOSS2007 Sharepoint, whenever we create the mysite, the shared docs dont show up on any of the servers, or any other site, which it does do if you installed a standalone server, but due to the fact that we got multiple web apps we had to take the long way around and install a farm, so that we could choose a different port for the web apps. Any ideas greatly appreciated.

    THANK YOU!!!

Well your port 81 should not be blocked on the firewall as well as on the router which manages outbound connection. Also your ISP may block this port....

Are you on a public IP or a Private IP? Did you check whether your provider is not blocking port 81? If you tried to connect from inside your local network to your public IP, this might have been blocked by your router as IP spoofing attempt.

The port is open, it is not being blocked, and you can see traffic comeing in and out.

it is a public IP, we have another app that uses the default port, which works fine from outside the company.
