Cannot start Microsoft Office Outlook, Unable to open the Outlook window

Hi,

I have recently installed Microsoft Office 2003 on my XP Pro client. I get the error message : "Cannot start Microsoft Office Outlook. Unable to open Outlook window. The set of folders could not be opened. The server is not available. Contact your administrator if this condition persists." Have uninstalled software as Administrator and reinstalled it and when I log on as normal user and try and setup Outlook, receive the above error message. I have tried every suggestion I could find on the internet, but still haven't found a solution.

Outlook.exe was NOT in compatibility mode, which is set # 1. The user uses XP, so you have to go in the registry, backup profiles the key "HKEY_CURRENT_USER \ Software \ Microsoft \ Windows NT \ CurrentVersion \ Windows Messaging Subsystem", then delete the key profiles. Outlook give the same error. Restored the key backup profiles of Outlook and allowed him to connect. It's a rare kind of review, but it worked for now.

Disable the compatibility setting, to remove this error :

1. Locate Outlook.exe.

Outlook.exe is typically located in one of the following folders, depending on the version of Outlook that you are running:
* Microsoft Office Outlook 2007
C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office12
* Microsoft Office Outlook 2003
C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office 11
* Microsoft Outlook 2002
C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office 10
* Microsoft Outlook 2000
C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office 9
2. Right-click Outlook.exe, and then click Properties.
3. On the Compatibility tab, click to clear the Run this program in compatibility mode for check box.
4. Click OK.
5. Try to start Outlook. If you receive error message again, use Method 2.

You can also try the follow these steps:

1. Click Start, click Run, type regedit, and then click OK.
2. Locate one of the following registry keys, as appropriate for the version of Microsoft Windows that you are using:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Windows Messaging Subsystem
3. Delete the Profiles key under the Windows Messaging (Subsystem) key.

To do this, right-click Profiles, and then click Delete. Click Yes to confirm the deletion.
4. Exit Registry Editor, and then restart Outlook.

I followed your steps and it seems to have reset outlook, can you advise how to restore bacak again?

A box came up saying create profile - please help!
