Audio recording XP

Can anyone tell me how to disable the sound recording on XP. This
application is catching an audio device that I need for another
application and there is no way that I can see to disable it from the
Control panel (Sounds and Audio in the audio tab). I also did not find a service associated with this audio recording.

To disable the sound recording on windows XP, Click on Volume tab, hit the Advanced button under "Device volume," then click on the word "Options," then choose Properties. Then select Playback.

If you really want o disable your sound recording then you need, at the bottom right had side you will see Sound master volume click on it then a new window would get open over here click on file and select properties, over there try to disable your recording and make sure in Mixer device you have selected as Output mode instead of input mode after doing this also check out the audio & sound by going into control panel too.

Type “gpedit.msc” in the RUN at start menu Search box and hit enter.
No Go to Computer Configuration > Administrative Templates > Windows Components > Sound Recorder
Now in the right side pane, Right click on “Do not allow Sound Recorder to run” and select “Properties”.
In the option Enabled” to disable the Sound Recorder and “Disbled” to enable.
After getting that just reboot it .
