    Ms Access Slow performance

    Hello friends,

I have an Xp pro machine with 2.66ghz P4 processor & 1gb Ram. The database performance is really slow. If I delete a single text box from a form then too it takes about 20 seconds to perform. The database is accessed over a network. The other network level functions works fine.

Please help me if anyone of you have any solution.

    Re: Ms Access Slow performance

I have the exact problem with my access program. The only difference is that I have my database stored on the local drive & not on any network. I am sure this is due to my machine cause if I open the same project in any different machine then the performance is comparatively better. But on my laptop its working really slow.
Can someone please shed some light on this problem?

    Thanks in advance.

I think you need to keep your hard disk working & up to date & for this I suggest you to defrag your hdd.

    Defragging Benefits:
    1. On discs with a single application (such as a database since the only important thing on the disc), a database causes defragged the disk heads to move shorter distances. = Faster searching.
    2. When creating or expanding files, free space have also made it easier to adjacent large volume of data to allocate quickly.
    3. Even on drives with multiple applications, if the disk isn't nearly full, you STILL reduces the amount of effort involved in looking for a drive.
