Hex editors present data in hexadecimal format. For your MAC operating system you can try wxHexEditor which is writen with C++/wxWidgets GUI libs. It is is another Hex Editor, build because there is no good hex editor for Linux system, specially for big files.

    1. It uses 64 bit file descriptors (supports files up to 2^64 bytes).
    2. It does NOT copy whole file to your RAM. That make it FAST and can open files (which sizes are Multi Giga-Tera-Peta-Exabytes)for expense of some Megabytes of RAM.
    3. Written with C++/wxWidgets GUI libs and can be used with other OSes such as Mac OS, Windows...

You can also try Hackman Hex Editor that comes with cryptography capabilities, decoding with ready and self-made algorithms and a fully-featured editor. It supports plugins and comes with a SDK to help you create your own plugins. The program offers a command line for controlling the program using only your keyboard, a menu and command shortcut editor, and a redesigned interface to speed up your work and enhance your productivity.
