    DV Media Player Pro

DV Media Player plays DV AVI files and displays the DV metadata such as timecode, date and time of recording, iris, shutter speed, white balance settings etc which appear beneath the video pane. Information is displayed frame-accurate. You can frame-step back or forward, and jump directly to the next or previous scene. Also available is a "Pro" version with more features.

The Burn In feature of DVMP Pro allows you to burn the metadata values onto the video area so that they are permanently etched into the visible area of each video frame.

When you select "Burn In Metadata" from the Tools menu you are prompted for an Output File name. The default file name is the same as the existing file except that "-burn" is appended to the part before the ".avi" extension (e.g. "myfile-burn.avi").

DVMP will then make an exact copy of the existing AVI file to the output file name, except that each frame of the output file will have the metadata values written across it. The burning operation uses the Microsoft DV encoder.

The Burn options allow you to select which items of metadata you require to be burned into the frames. The Burn options can be found by selecting the Tools>Options menu and clicking the "Burn" tab.

You can select the brightness of the metadata text and the text outline as a percentage. 0% is black and 100% is peak white.

You can also select the "Title Safe Area" as a percentage. This confines the metadata text within the chosen central area of the video frame to ensure that it is not cropped by some TV displays. You can choose 80% (which means that 10% to the left and right, top and bottom of frame is kept clear of text), or 90 (where 5% all around is kept clear). If you are burning widescreen (16:9) video and you want to confine the text within a 4:3 safe area you should select "Always use 4:3 area".

Metadata is stored in every frame of DV data. This export facility outputs the metadata items for each frame to a text file as a list of Comma-Separated Values (CSV), one line per frame. This file can then be imported to Excel or most other spreadsheet or database programs. By default, the file name of the export file is the same as the AVI file but has ".csv" appended.

To reduce the size of the export file, a line is only added to the file when any item of metadata changes its value. In the case of the Timecode and Recording Date and Time items which change constantly, a "change" actually means a "discontinuity" in the timecode, date, or time of day. If an item of metadata goes from being present in one frame to being missing in the next frame (or vice versa) this is also considered to be a "change".

If any item of metadata is missing in a frame, it is written as an empty text string - i.e. you will just see two consecutive commas.

Here are some key features of "DV Media Player Pro":

    • Burn all or selected items of DV metadata into each frame of video.
    • Export metadata to a CSV text file.
    • Enhanced scene detection - user can select any item of metadata to trigger scene detection (see below).
    • Drag and drop files onto DVMP
    • Jump forward or backward in 1 second or 1 minute increments.
    • File Progress can be displayed as a timecode or an absolute frame number.
    • Options can be changed at any time.
    • NTSC and PAL
    • Displays 4:3 and 16:9 (widescreen) format correctly
    • View metadata in real time and frame-accurate
    • Pause and frame step forward or backward
    • Jump to next or previous scene
    • Full/Half resolution selection option
    • Resize window and video automatically resizes to fit
    • DV AVI file Type 1 and 2 supported

    Re: DV Media Player Pro

DVMP Pro is a self-contained program file - it does not install any DLLs or codecs on your PC and does not change any of your system settings. It couldn't be simpler or safer! you can free download DV Media Player Pro 3.1 now.

    Re:

DV Media Player Pro include a powerful File Splitter which splits your DV AVI file into scenes using a range of triggers, and an metadata editor which can modify timecode, DV time and date stamp, user bits, wide screen flag and converts between NTSC drop and non-drop frame timecode.
