Photoshop shows monitor calibration rerun error

Recently i had installed Adobe Photoshop Elements 7 on my system. The problem is that when i start the program, I get an error message that reads: The monitor profile "DELL E176FP G2.2 D65" appears to be defective. Please rerun your monitor calibration software. Can any body tell me what does this error message means? Does any body have any idea about it? Kindly provide me the correct solution in order to resolve the above issue.

That error has occurred for years on Dell and Samsung (at least) monitor profiles. It means that the profile currently associated with your display is defective. Use Adobe Gamma (Windows), the Display Color Calibrator Assistant (Mac OS X), or ColorSync (Mac OS 9.x) to create a new monitor profile.

Did you try changing the color profile for the monitor? For that you can update the driver for your monitor. It will help you to get rid of the above issue. Also, contact the makers of your display and tell them that they apparently installed a bad profile.

Re: Photoshop shows monitor calibration rerun error

I use a device calibration device from Monaco Systems to calibrate my monitor. I found it effective and the resulting profile to be accurate. You can also follow the below steps mention.

    1. Go to C:\Program Files\Common Files\Control Panels
    2. Copy the "Adobe Gamma.cpl" file to C:\Windows\System32
    3. Open up your Control Panel (in Classic View) and double click Adobe Gamma
    4. Choose Step-By-Step (Wizard) on the first screen
    5. Enter a custom name in the description field on the next screen
    6. Click next until you get to the screen with a red, green and blue box
    7. Blur your eyes and adjust each color until the box in the center blends in with the lines on the outside
    8. Set the Gamma to custom and enter 2.00 (in between Windows and Macintosh) and then choose Next
    9. Choose Next until you get to the screen with the Before and After radio buttons
    10. Choose between the two to see your changed settings
    11. Click Finish and save your ICC Profile somewhere on your PC

That should do it. Open up Photoshop and everything should be ok.
