    ShutDown Script for Windows XP

    hello friends,

I normally perform all scans and backup after 12.00 in the night. The process takes about couple of hours. So, I want to shutdown my computer after all scans and backups are done. I am looking for a shutdown script that I can add to the Windows scheduler. Can anybody provide shutdown script ?

    thanks

    Follow these instructions :-

    • Initially, create a new file copyimportantdir.bat with the following copy command : Copy c:\importantdir\*.* Z:\ and save the file in c:\importantdir

    • Then, you need to invoke the Group Policy Editor. To do this : Start >> select Run >> type gpedit.msc >> click OK. A Group Policy Editor window will open up.

    • In the left part of the screen, navigate to Computer Configuration >> Windows Settings >> select "Scripts (Startup/shutdown)".
    • In the right part of the screen, right-click "Shutdown" >> select "Properties"
    • In the shutdown properties dialog, click the "Add" button
    • Enter "c:\ importantdir\copyimportantdir.bat" (without the quotes) in the script name field. Then, click OK >> click OK once more.

    • Close the Group Policy Editor window.

Windows shutdown script is ready and will be executed each time you shutdown your Windows XP.

It is possible to define Shutdown Script within the Group Policy Editor.

    navigate the following :-

    Local Computer Policy
    Computer Configuration
    Windows Settings
    Scripts
