Unable to send rich text format in exchange 2007

I am running on Windows Exchange 2007 with SP1, I am using a GAL synchronization tool and it seems that all the contacts that are synchronized are set to use MAPI rich text format as shown on the general tab of a contact within the EMC. Exchange 2007 could not receive some of rich-text mail from gmail/hotmail. What would be the problem and how need to do to resolve this problem.

The Rich Text Format (RTF) Specification provides a format for text and graphics interchange that can be used with different output devices, operating environments, and operating systems. In Exchange Server 2007, you can set the TNEF conversion options for messages that are sent to a remote domain in the Exchange Management Shell or on the Remote Domains tab in the Exchange Management Console. Although the settings are functionally equivalent in the two management interfaces, they may use slightly different terms. Exchange Server 2003 can use different Messages Formats on an e-mail domain base. By default Exchange Server 2003 uses only one default setting for delivering all messages.

The only way to automate this is to create a script using the exchange shell command, C:\Windows\System32>Set-MailContact -Identity "name" -UseMAPIRichTextFormat Never. To get the contact name I'd use the export to csv option then strip out everything but the name and put that into a text file. The default settings are suitable for many small and medium sized customers but in large messaging environments or for interoperability with non Microsoft Exchange messaging systems, it is often necessary to implement different settings for different e-mail domains.

The rich text format is proprietary to Microsoft e-mailing software. RTF uses the American National Standards Institute (ANSI), PC-8, Macintosh, or IBM PC character set to control the representation and formatting of a document, both on the screen and in print. The Microsoft Exchange Administrator program, click to clear the Always Send To This Recipient In Microsoft Exchange Rich-Text Format check box.

Note that only people who use Outlook and Outlook Express can see rich text formats.
