    Windows XP fix error 1517

I had seen the windows error code 1517 in the events application. The error is causing windows to reboot. Cannot figure out what to do here. What is the error related to to. I had tried to google out on this error but could not locate the proper information on it. To which thing does this errors is reflecting. Recently I had just added a firewall software in my pc. But that cannot be the cause of this. Otherwise I only add and remove games occasionally in windows.

The error normally comes up after running the sysprep on an installation of windows xp. The error refers to that windows saves a user registry in a application service. This service was still using the registry at the time of log off. Then memory which uses this service is still not free. This normally also cause due the the service which is running as a user account. Just try to configure the services to run in the local system account.

I think this can be due to any faulty software recently installed in your system. Try to update windows which can fix up the issue. Other wise just restore your windows by system restore the problem will go. Remove all the recently installed applications and run and a windows repair utility if necessary. The repair windows service will need windows bootable disk which will repair any corrupted windows file.

I was getting the same error after the windows xp home edition installation. Then the according to the Microsoft error report service, the services needs to run in local service or network service account. This is due to the user profile settings. The error is not a major issue. It is a temporary problem. The error comes out because it is designed in that particular way. The rebooting of windows is a different issue. It is not related to the error.
