Re-Install of WSUS

I had Symantec Endpoint Manager and WSUS on the same server, which did not seem to work to good, so uninstalled SEPM but then WSUS started giving me problems, so i made a backup of the content (ntbackup) and the metadata (wsusutil.exe) and uninstalled everything and then reinstalled WSUS. I then imported the backups and the metadata again.

My problem is now that I have 20000+ updates saying that it needs approval, and when i approve them, they start to redownload. I really dont want to waste all that bandwith again, i already have the content, any help ?

You can restore data backed up using NT backup Please catalog the data first and then perform the restore.

How did you uninstalled WSUS? Through Add or Remove Programs? Did you uninstalled Windows Internal Database as well? If not then do so because uninstalling WSUS from Add or Remove Programs does not removes Windows Internal Database. To uninstall Windows Internal Database

1. Open a command shell.
2. Call msiexec with the correct key for the operating system platform.

• On 32-bit platforms: msiexec /x {CEB5780F-1A70-44A9-850F-DE6C4F6AA8FB} callerid=ocsetup.exe
• On 64-bit platforms: msiexec /x {BDD79957-5801-4A2D-B09E-852E7FA64D01} callerid=ocsetup.exe

Make sure that the Automatic Update Policies specified in WUAU.ADM have been applied in the domain atmosphere. For doing so you can use Group Policy Management Console and GPRESULT.EXE against the Windows client compWuter to see the applied policies.
