Windows Live Mail vs Outlook

I'm running Windows Vista as my operating system. I'm trying to find a program that syncs the hotmail inbox folders with an e-mail program that stores the emails on the hard drive. I would like to know that which is the best program amongst windows live mail and outlook that can keep the data on my hard drive. Can any body tell me that which is the best program among windows live mail and outlook that can syncs my hotmail inbox folders with an e-mail program on my hard drive? Does any body knows about it? Kindly let know your views on the above issue. Any kind of help on the above issue would be appreciated.

Re: Windows Live Mail vs Outlook

I think you should try Windows Mail (not Live Mail) which comes with Windows Vista. Similar and very close to Outlook Express Windows Live Hotmail is one of the largest providers of free, web-based e‑mail. This is a helpful service to use when you have more than one computer, travel frequently and use various computers, or don't own a computer at all.

Re: Windows Live Mail vs Outlook

According to me Outlook Express is not available and cannot be installed on Windows Vista. Windows Vista comes with a program called Windows Mail (WM), which is similar to Outlook express, but has some differences. It is important to remember that WLMail will always provide a mirror image of the folders on the central Hotmail server. (This applies to all HTTP servers). Consequently, a message will no longer be available on your hard drive (within WLMail), if you delete it from the central server (or vice versa).

If you want to store individual messages on your hard drive, you must copy them to a separate storage folder within WLMail, BEFORE you delete them from the server.

Re: Windows Live Mail vs Outlook

Both Windows Live Mail and Outlook can store files on your hard drive. With Windows Live Hotmail, you can send and receive e‑mail messages from any computer that has a working Internet connection and a supported web browser.
You do have the option of checking your Hotmail messages in Windows Live Mail, which stores messages on your PC.
