How to change a user login id in Windows Server 2003

My companion has left our office and so I would like to change his user login id from our Windows Server 2003 to the new name for the new employee. But I don't remember how to do so. Can anyone tell me how to change a user login id in Windows Server 2003?

To change the user login id using SharePoint Portal Server 2003, follow below steps.

    1. Open the SharePoint Portal Server Central Administration for server_name page.
    2. In the Server Configuration area, click Configure server farm account settings.
    3. In the Default Content Access Account area, click to select the Specify account check box.
    4. In the User name (DOMAIN\user name) text box, type the user name of the account.
    5. In the Password text box and in the Confirm Password box, type the account password.
    6. Click OK.

Click on Start, click Control Panel, and double-click Administrative Tools. Double-click Active Directory Users and Computers. In the console tree Active Directory Users and Computers, Domain name, click on Users. In the details pane, right-click the user name and select "Rename". Follow the wizard. Also type a new password in New Password and in Confirm New Password, and then click OK.

I don't have much idea about Windows Server 2003 but the common ideology would be something like this:

Start -> Control Panel -> User Accounts -> choose the user account that you want to change -> change the name.

Once done, restart your computer. Please note that to do so, you must be logged in with admin account.
