There are many freeware tools which can be installed in your phone and you cant take a backup of your phone. One simple application is attached to the post. It is called as HTC backup software. Otherwise you can go for PIM Backup tools. It is a shareware tool. If you need a full version then you will need to pay a small fee.

Download Sprite Backup, the official tool that comes with the HTC device. It is also available in the device driver and support cd. See here : http://www.htc.com/europe/SupportDow...cat=3&dl_id=19
