How to reinstall windows picture and fax viewer

Hi,

I'm having a problem with my Windows Picture and Fax Viewer. when I'm in the windows picture and fax viewer, if I try to right click and then click the edit option it comes up with the "opens with" menu. Does anyone know how to reinstall windows picture and fax viewer in windows xp? I would really liked using it and if there is any way to regain use of this program for my pictures i would really appreciate help.......

You can also change the file associations for the specific file type by :

1. Open the Windows Explorer
2. Go to Tools / Folder Options / File Types
3. Scroll down to the extension you want to change
4. Click on the Change button
5. Select the program you want to associate with that extension
6. Click on the OK button

To reinstall windows picture and fax viewer, go to the start menu - control panel then from ADD/REMOVE programs, click on the REMOVE WINDOWS COMPONENTS choose to de-select the fax viewer. Then restart your computer. To reinstall it again go again to the add/remove programs and windows components and select the checkbox.

If you want to reinstall the Windows Picture and Fax Viewer program, try the following.

1. Click on Start - Run and then type : regsvr32 /u %windir%\system32\shimgvw.dll.

2. Once you have done, then again, Click on Start - Run and type: regsvr32 /i %windir%\system32\shimgvw.dll.

This will reinstall Picture and Fax viewer.
