    IE8 and compatibility view Help

    Hi,
I use IE for web developing, and have recently updated to IE8. I have been trying to get the Compatibility view to work so I can view the sites I am building on my own machine, but it is greyed out. Can anyone please tell me how to turn it on?
    Thanks

    Hi Clark,
That is not quite what I was after. While developing a website I need to see what it will look like when viewed in IE7 , IE8, Firefox, etc, etc. For some reason I am unable to do change IE8 to IE7 view so I can see what the website looks like, which is on my machine.

    Thanks

    Hello my friend,

The best way to test website compatibility is to run a virtual machine. If you work on mac with OSX you can test your browser on cross platforms & then you can also run windows for free on virtual machine & test windows platform browsers.
You can also use some software programs available over the internet for the same.
You can also test Cross Browser Compatibility Online for free.
Some of the best sites for Cross-browser testing are
    1. Browser Lab from Adobe
    2. BrowserShots
    3. Crossbrowsertesting

    I hope this helps you.

Depending on what application you are using to develop your site you will have to edit the source code as per Internet Explorer 7 or 8. Lets take a example that you are using html for creating a site. The text editor is notepad and you are assigning html tags to each text and image to develop a website. Here you will have to add up new html tags for Internet Explorer 8. Like the quoting is done by q instead of quote, for image object is used, etc. Internet Explorer 8 is new browser so you will have to upgrade your editor also.
