No sound while playing M2T files on Windows Media Player

Whenever I enque a m2t file in Windows Media Player and try to play it, the m2t file anyhow starts playing but with no sound. However, other file formats works fine with proper sound in Windows Media Player. What is the reason for this ? How can I play m2t files properly (with sound) in WMP ?

    plz help...!!!

Alright..!!! This is really serious issue..

Try to play all your M2T files in some another media player like VLC player or Real Media Player. If these m2t files plays well in other Players with proper sound then, it's your Windows Media Player problem....may be codecs error. In that case, you need to download and reinstall codecs.

Since you have mentioned that your other file formats works very well with proper sound, then I would advice you to change the exention from m2t to mpeg and then check playing the same file in WMV, whether you are able to get the sound, this time...

Try renaming .m2t files and check whether it solves the problem. To rename .m2t files --
    • Make sure that in Windows Explorer or My Computer, the Folder Options are set to View Details and to View File Extensions.
    • In Windows XP, look in top menu: View - Choose Details.
    • Make sure that the File Type is unchecked.
    • Now you can see the 3 letter extension at the end of each file.
    • Next, in the folder where you have stored your video files, just click once to highlight the file. Then click once again to go into Edit Mode (it should allow you change the filename or the three letter extension).
    • This is where you can change the extension to .mpg. Then check whether you can open in Media Player.

Note - You might cannot see MPEG-2 files. You may need a codec for that.
