MS Outlook error - file did not closed properly

I am using Outlook 2007 on my computer which has Windows Vista. Now Outlook 2007 is giving me an error message at system tray icon saying "A data file did not close properly the last time it was used & is being checked for problems. Performance might be affected while the check is in progress." Can anyone solve the problem...??? Please Help...!

In past even i faced to the same problem & was solved by changing the owner name of the file. Using the same name of the file doesn't have permission to update that file.

To change the name of the owner of the file you need to follow the following steps :

    1. Just Right click on the My Computer partition & select Properties.

    2. Now click on the Security Tab.

    3. In Security Tab double click Advanced button.

    4. In Advanced go to Owner Tab & select Edit button.

    5. Now Select "Change Owner To:" & change the name to what ever you want to change.

    6. Now Check the box beside "Replace owner on subcontainers and objects".

Re: MS Outlook error - file did not closed properly

An incorrectly shut down .ost file or .pst file may occur for one of the following reasons:

    • Antivirus scanning of the file

    • Forced Microsoft Windows shutdown before the Outlook.exe process shuts down completely

    • Outlook add-ins

If you see this issue frequently, and you have to exit Outlook shortly before you shut down your computer, it may be better to shut down Windows while Outlook is still running. We recommend that you do this instead of exiting Outlook and then shutting down Windows shortly after that.
