    How to Disable Adobe Updater

hello, good afternoon is there a way to (forced) disable updates for adobe software , I have Adobe CS3 suite installed , and when I disconnect from the Internet, there appear a small icon in the taskbar . When I clicked on it , I see that it is downloading the update. Regrettably, I have bandwidth limited connection and I do not want that update to used my bandwidth.

In the window update, you can choose between three options:
    - Pause to resume restart
    - Cancel to resume tomorrow
    - Cancel to resume next month.

But i Cannot find the way to cancel this adobe update. Could someone help me?

    Thank you in advance.

Very regularly, Adobe Reader checks on the Internet if a new version is not available. You can disable automatic updates in order to run the software faster. And occasionally, you can check adobe.com if a new version is available or not

    1. Start Adobe Reader.
    2. Pull down the Edit menu and click Preferences.
    3. Click on the category Updates (1).
    4. Then select the Do not automatically find the critical updates (2).
    5. Finally, click on Ok to validate (3).

Turn off automatic updates on Windows OS

If your computer is connected to the internet, then you can change the Adobe Updater preferences to not check for updates.

To Change the Adobe Updater preferences, do the following:
    1. Start the AdobeUpdater.exe application from ...\Program Files\Common Files\Adobe\Updater 5
    2. When the update screen appears, click the Preferences button
    3. Uncheck the Automatically Check for updates checkbox and click OK

If your computer does not have an internet connection, then you can manually edit the AdobeUpdaterPreferences.dat file.

To manually edit the AdobeUpdaterPreferences.dat file, do the following:
    1. Start the AdobeUpdater.exe application from ...\Program Files\Common Files\Adobe\Updater 5
    2. When the Adobe Updater dialog appears stating that there is no Internet connection, click Cancel
    3. Navigate to ...\Documents and Settings\[username]\Local Settings\Application Data\Adobe\Updater5 on Windows XP or ...\[username]\AppData\Local\Adobe\Updater5 on Vista and open AdobeUpdaterPrefs.dat in Notepad.
    4. If the <AutoCheck>1</AutoCheck> tag already exists, then change the value from 1 to 0. Otherwise, add the line <AutoCheck>0</AutoCheck> anywhere between the <AdobeUpdater></AdobeUpdater> tags.
    5. Close and save the AdobeUpdaterPrefs.dat file.
