This holds true if you are using the licensed versions of AAW2007 (Plus/Pro) then stopping "aawservice.exe" would kill the real-time protection of Ad-Watch.
you can switch the service to Manual follow the below instructions
    Start > Run >e services.msc then select "Ad-Aware 2007 Service"
Right click > Startup Type > Properties
Change "Startup Type" to "Manual" and apply the changes then quit

But you need to run "services.msc" to start and then stop "aawservice.exe" before and after each scan, also for checking for either new Definitions or for Program Updates

Launch the msconfig and select the "Startup" tab. tab and Unmark all entries related Lavasoft Ad-Aware.quit then launch services.msc with the help of run from start up menu
Expand the window again select entries that are associated with Lavasoft Ad-Aware. it will introduce a new window, modify the setting from "Automatic" to "Disabled" and apply the cahnges
    now reboot your computer

Hey dude did you know this
Normally the Concept of Ad-Aware 2008/2007 as a Service eases this mainly required power and flexibility since a service runs with increased rights on computer.which states that the user can utilize user-mode while the Service keeps the elevated rights it wanted so that it correctly identify and delete the unwanted malware utilities.
