    Vhs-c to Dvd Converter

    Hello,

I have lots of VHS tapes that I would like to convert digital video to DVD or DivX or other ...

I would buy a DVD VCR recorder. I prefer this solution to capture because the VCR can be used once the conversions performed.

Only I wonder what video formats DVD recorder record?

How do I handle the files generated? Is that possible with all models?

So I'm looking for advice and opinions of users ....

Is this possible and what free software can I use.

    Thank you

The TV-tuner cards normally have a video input (copmosite or S-Video) which allows you to do what you want: purchase your VHS.

You can make the acquisition DivX, or to purchase a video codec that compresses very little, and then recompress with the codec you want (MPEG4 or MPEG2 or other).

There are software encoders that generate a high quality MPEG2 bad, average and excellent (and usually exist in software settings of parameters for conversion to MPEG2)

Some examples of good software to convert to MPEG2:

    - CCE (Cinema Craft Encoder)
    - Canopus Procoder
    - Main Concept MPEG Encoder
    - Tmpgenc Plus

Another solution is to use a good recorder dvd table to convert to MPEG2.

I use Pinnacle Studio 11 software, its heavy, but I liked it very much for the transition and that, but I was not satisfied with the quality after the ready, that is, converted for mpeg2. I used the software that's why I recommended you.

    Hi,

Personally, I use "VirtualDub" to capture. Matter of taste
Attention, takes a lot of catching up!

For video processing, you can use free utilities such as "Movie Maker" or "VideoSpin".
