To display the subtitles download Directvobsub and install, it will automatically load the srt FILE Player into you when you view your movie FILE (with Windows Media Player for example). Keep the srt FILE together in the same folder as your AVI FILE.
You can also download mplayer and mencoder.
The mencoder comes with the mplayer if you want to encode movies.Once installed and set up (which entails getting the font right for subtitles and getting various playback options set in a prefs file)
I use BS.Player. It equipped with advanced subtitle options which enable the users to watch video content with subtitles from many popular subtitle formats (MicroDVD .sub, VobSub .sub + .idx, SubViewer .sub, (Advanced) SubStation Alpha .ssa or .ass, SubRip .srt, VPlayer .txt...). BS.Player is also a AVCHD player and enables you to display AVCHD video format movies (Advanced Video Codec High Definition) used in digital tapeless camcorders. It can automatically search and download missing subtitles for currently playing video, if available.
