Cannot Delete One Care files in Vista

I had created a backup of my complete system some months before. I am running windows vista in my pc. The size of backup file was around 43 gb. Now when I restored the file back again it just shows that only 8 gb is restored back. There are some project file in the backup which got corrupted. I run the restore mode of Windows Once Care to restore all the files and settings. But the process was incomplete. I want to remove those back up files and make a fresh copy again. I tried to delete. A message pops-up denoting that can't delete the file. What can I do now.

The backup files saved by Windows Once Care is stored in a default location from which you can delete directly. The location of folder is C:\Restore_date on which the backup is created. Navigate on to the address and delete the file manually. Also you can move the files to another location. If you want only specific data from the backup file then you can have it manually. The files are normally stored in .zip or .rar format. You will need a winzip tool to open them and extract your data. It really takes a long time to search the whole backup file.

The file in unable to delete because you do not have the permission to delete the file. That means you do not has the ownerhship of the file. First to need to take the ownership and then you can delete Windows Once Care backup file. To do this follow the below steps:
Log in you system as Administrator.
    • Go to Start Menu > All Programs > Accessories > Right click on cmd
    • Select Run as Adminitrator.
    • Now in the DOS window type -
    • takeown /F c:\retore\061008 /R /D Y
    • takeown /F c:\retore\061008 /R /D Y
    • icacls Folderpath\* /grant username:f /T

The c:\retore\061008 is the complete path of folder where the file is saved. After this you will be able to delete the file.
