system is not responding whenever try to insert dvd

I am using a assembled desktop computer & with Vista installed in it. I am having a Samsung DVD Writer. But since few days i am facing a problem. The problem is that whenever i try inserting any DVD / CD into the drive, the system stops responding to it. the system means the whole windows stops responding. Can anyone tel me What to do....????

There are two methods to solve it may Help You....!

Method 1 : Cleaning the DVD/CD

Withdraw the disc of the reader and to see whether the disc that you try to read contains some broken stripes or may being. Clean the disc by a kit of cleaning of disc available on computer of the stores, or by delicately clean the silver plated face of the disc with a soft rag. You ensure that you wipe the disc of the center towards outside. You can also try to clean the disc with CD of solutions of cleaning at disposal in shops. Dry computer after having cleaned the disc, then insert the disc in the CD reader/DVD.

Method 2 : Cleaning the drive lens

If you still can not read the disk, you should clean the lens using a cleaning machine of the LENS of the LASER. Buy a cleaning machine of the Lens of the Laser to the computer stores, cleaning machines are relatively cheap. The CD is usually red and black with small brushes on the bottom. Check out for the latest updated firmware for that drive it might be that the firmware must have got corrupted. or try uninstalling the driver & reinstalling it after restarting the computer & also make sure that the CD/DVD might not have excess data in it then capacity, it also corrupts the CD.

DISABLE autorun first of all....
Then check your disk for scratches. too many of them may be the problem...
Is the drive sata or IDE? Check for UDMA modes...
