    Fix the PSAPI.DLL incompatibility issue

I am using Windows Xp Operating System. Since morning today, whenever i try to boot up my computer i am getting an error saying, "Procedure entry point GetProcessImageFileNameW could not be located in the dynamic link library. PSAPI.DLL". I think, its definitely the PSAPI.DLL incompatibility issue. Do any one of you have any idea how to fix this problem ? Please let me know.

I think, you should search all instances of PSAPI.DLL on your system. See which one is the newest. Then in a command prompt type regsvr32 full_path_to_the_most_recent_file.If the path contains any spaces (such as c:\program files\...) then put the path between quotes.Or try this steps:-

    • Open up Search from Start Menu.

    • Find all instances PSAPI.DLL on your PC.

    • Rename all extra copies of PSAPI.DLL files found EXCEPT the one located in \Windows\System32\ folder to some other names like PSAPIOLD.DLL (never delete or do anything with the PSAPI.DLL file in your Windows or Windows/System 32 folder).

    • Reboot the system.

    Thats it !!

If Windows is unable to run applications due to a .dll error, this .dll may be missing or you may have registry error. Such errors can heavily influence the performance of your PC.Problems will arise if a DLL file is damaged, corrupted or a particular program installs an incompatible version of a DLL.file on your system. There is only one PSAPI.DLL file in your PC and it is under the Windows\System 32 folder. Additional PSAPI.DLL file may be installed by third party programs such as SmartBridge, often the older version.

Your problem could be related to Motive SB. Run msconfig. Go to start up programs. disable Motive SB which is related to Verizon DSL and reboot
