| Move Users Profile folder in Windows 7 I am having multiple user accounts setup on my system. I am running Windows 7 OS on my computer. Is there a way to move or transfer the Users Profile window in a another partition. If yes how can i do so. What are the possibilities to transfer those folder in another folder and it should not also affect my log in and log off activity. |

The user profile folders are special folders of windows. They are not easily visible also. But there is a option where you can move the folders to a desired location. To move the folder to a different drive or path do this : First Create a new folder in the desired location. Go to Start Menu > Right click on folders like My Documents or Pictures. Choose Properties > Location Tab > Move. Select the target folder and destination. Click Apply and Ok. |

By default user folders are subfolders of a %UserProfile% folder. The location of the folder is C:\Users\User. To move the user folder first create a new folder in the location where it is going to be transferred. Go to Start Menu and type C:\users\ in the search box. After a window will pop-up showing the user folder. Right click on the folder which want to move and click on Properties. A folder property window will pop-up. In the Location tab use type the path of folder which you created. Click on OK. Click Yes. Now your user profile folder are moved in a different directory.

If you want to transfer the user profile to another computer then you can use the Windows Easy Transfer Utility. It will transfer all your user profile folder, emails, contact, pictures, etc to the different computer wherever you want. Launch Windows Easy Transfer. Follow the wizard and transfer your files easily.

| Re: Move Users Profile folder in Windows 7 Thank you. The nasty thing about this is that the old forders stay behind and cannot be erased. In Vista they can be erased, though not in Windows 7. Now that's something I do not like. I like to tidy up, and Windows 7 won't let me.
