Information on Microsoft Office Image Writer

I bought a new scanner recently. I don't have any third party software to scan and view scanned files. I am running Windows Vista with Ms office 2007. I know that Ms office is having a utility called Microsoft Office Image tool. By this tool i can view pdf files and scan files to my computers. I am also aware that it provides more feature. But i am not finding this tool anywhere in my computer. How do i install it and use it.

Re: Information on Microsoft Office Image Writer

First you will need to install your scanner in your system. Just check that you had received some CD's with your scanner. That CD includes the scanning software. While, microsoft image writer supports a Document imaging process of scanning documents, converting them to images. These images can be view or you can carry to any other system. By this utility you can scan documents to digital images in TIFF format. TIFF is a high resolution image format. Go to Start Menu > All Programs > Ms Office > Microsoft Office Document Scanning. It is used for scanning and Start Menu > All Programs > Ms Office > Microsoft Office Document Imaging. It is used for imaging a scan file to create a image file.

To work with the Ms Office Image Writer you will first need to install it. Then you can create image file in TIFF format. By this you can create a virtual printer to print you file in TIFF and MDI formats. Follow the instructions :
  • Go to Start Menu > Control Panel > Add or Remove Program.
  • Look of Ms Office > Select Change > Add or Remove Features > Continue
  • Expand Office Tools > Select Microsoft Office Document Imaging > Run all from My Computer > Continue.
  • Select close after installation.
