sndrec32.exe for Microsoft Windows (all versions to-date), is a multimedia utility which allows you to record sound into .wav format from various available audio inputs. This is a non-essential process. Disabling or enabling it is down to user preference.

    Re: sndrec32.exe for recording sound

The process called sndrec32.exe is the main executable for the sound recording accessory bundled with windows. Sound Recorder (as it's name implies) is used to record sound from your soundcard and save it as a '.WAV' file. If you use Microsoft Windows, this process should be left running.

sndrec32.exe is an application that does NOT appear to be a security risk

The Process Server database currently registers sndrec32.exe to Microsoft.

This is part of Microsoft Windows.

For recording I did not use the built-in Sound Recorder. Neither did I use the good old sndrec32. Instead I gave a shot at Audacity. A day after I was so fond of that newly created sound that I decided to create a new ringtone and load it onto my mobile phone.

    Re: sndrec32.exe for recording sound

What are the command line options for recording sound by the use of sndrec32.exe ? I am trying to use sndrec32 through command line in a script or something. What I have tried is to play the sound through command,
    sndrec32.exe /play /close <wave file>
but am not able to record sound through command with this,
    sndrec32.exe /record /close <wave file>
So, is what am doing correct? What are the options for sndrec32 from command line?
