Unable to view picture in my own webpage

I am making a web page for a project. I designed a web page. But there are some error's which i am not understanding how to deal with. I am using a notepad and some basic HTML code to make a simple web page. Now problem is it is not showing any picture, links are not working, list is not working, sometime the entire pages act as link, etc.

If you have Microsoft Office 2007 installed in your pc you can use Ms Publisher to make a simple web page. It is quiet simpler also. Go to Start Menu > Programs > Microsoft Office Publisher 2007. As you launch the application you have select the website column. They are ready made samples. You can choose one of them and follow the wizard. You can also use First Page to design a web page.

Your picture and web page must be in the same directory. If not place first place them in a single folder. Check the file of picture on the web page. Because file names are case sensitive. Eg. picture.BMP if the original name is picture.bmp. Just check that the picture format is jpg or jpeg, because it is one of the common picture format. The internet can read only some formats. Did your coded is correctly spelled. Like <IMG SRC="picture.jpg">. Retype it.

First check out whether the link you are given is not expired or move out. Look that your tag is correctly written without any spelling mistake. Somewhat it should be like this <A HREF="www.website.com">. Correct the spelling if you had typed HERF instead of HREF. Give a space between A and HREF. Enclose whole thing in bracket. For your list thing double check that tags are proper. Had you spelled the tag correclty. for opening and closing. Eg. <li>....</li>.
And when the whole page is shown as link, you had probably didn't close the tag.
