This works for all install issues some how the reg got renamed.

    start regedit
    navigate to HKLM\Software\Microsoft\SQMClient\Windows\DisabledSessions
    rename MachineThrottling to _MachineThrottling

I have been able to install Java. Try using a Java Update 6 installer. That is what i used. It updated itself and is still working.

The Java installer works fine for me. IE8 too.You should try the offline installer for java.

I tried online and offline installer. The online installer not worked at all. The offline installer worked for IE8 but not Firefox. In Firefox all I see is a blank space. I tried updating the windows installer to 3.5 distribution but still not working.

I've workaround for getting the Java to work with the 32bit version of FF. I had to turn off the "next-generation Java plug-in" support. To do this, open the Java control panel applet, click the Advanced tab, expand the Java Plug-In setting, and uncheck the "Enable the next-generation Java Plug-in" box.

After making the change above and restarting FF, I was able to run Java applets from FF.

Just install it via IE7, I switched back from IE8 after multiple occasions of inability to properly download and install programs. It worked great using the online version for XP/Vista. I tried with Firefox and it didn't work either way. Must be the way Firefox downloads it into windows 7. A file or two must be lost, prevented or corrupted during the download.

Until Firefox and Microsoft can settle their differences and cooperate for once, Use IE if it fails in Firefox.
