I was scanning my computer. One of the virus is shown in the system folder of windows. I want to know that can we access the system volume information folder of windows. This folder is not visible. But when it affected by virus it is shown in the antivirus utility. The path of where the virus is sometime shows system volume folder. So is there a way to gain access it and delete those unwanted files manually.

All of your system restore points are stored in your system volume folder of windows. You access the folder manually and delete all the restore points also.

Setting for Win XP using FAT format file system.
    Double click on My Computers.
On the Tools menu select Tools Menu > Folder Options
Go to View tab > Select Show hidden files and folders
Uncheck the box Hide protected operating system files (Recommended)
    Click Yes > Click OK
Now double click on the system volume folder in the root folder

If you are using Win XP which is using NTFS system then apply the following settings :
Open Folder options from control panel.
In the view tab, check the box of Show hidden files and folders
    Then select OK
Now right click on the System Volume Information folder in the root folder.
    Select Sharing and Security
    Go to the security
Select Add and then type of username to access the folder.
    And select OK.

I am having Win XP Home Edition with NTFS file system. I did the following to access my system volume folder.

Start cmd by going on Start Menu > Run > type cmd.
Now for gaining access for c drive type the following :

    cmd " driveletter :\System Volume Information" /E /G username :F
    Press Enter
Now open the system volume folder by double clicking on in it.

If you want to remove permissions then give the below command.

    cmd " driveletter :\System Volume Information" /E /R username

It will remove all the permission for the user name typed
