    Re: Transparent GIF in Photoshop

    Definition -
A transparent GIF is a GIF with one color that is transparent, meaning any colors or pictures behind that color will show through.

    Create Transparent GIF

    1. Start Photoshop and open the image that we want to remove the backgroud from.

    2. Add the selected area.

Using the magic wand or lasso tool, select the area you want to be transparent.
If necessary, zoom in on the image so you can clearly see the edges.

    3. Delete the background.

Hit the Delete button. The selected area is removed and a checkered background becomes visible.
This background is not part of the image — it is there to show you which parts of the image will be transparent.

    4. Save the image as GIF

From the File menu select Save As... and save the image as a GIF.
A window will prompt you for colour options — make sure the Transparent option is checked .

And finally you will have a transparent GIF...

    Re: Transparent GIF in Photoshop

To create transparent GIF image using powerful utilities of the Photoshop...

Lets start with the image you wish to remove the background from and create a transparent image with.

Now trace around our image. I suggest you to use the Lasso tool for this.
    Note -
    • If you need to add to your selection, press and hold the SHIFT key on your keyboard. You should notice a little + sign appear next to the Lasso Tool. This will allow you to ADD to the selection (incase you accidentally dug in to far).
    • If you need to delete the selection, hold down the ALT key on your keyboard, you'll notice a little - sign next to the Lasso Tool. This will allow you to DELETE a piece of your selection (incase you accidentally selected a portion of the image that you didn't mean to).

Next copy what's inside of the selection. Press CTRL + C on your keyboard, ( alternatively to "Edit->Copy" from your tool bar).
Then create a new image. Press CTRL + N on your keyboard, (alternatively by going to "File->New" from your tool bar).
Leave the Width/Height settings as they are (they are automatically set for you by photoshop).
And paste the clipboard onto the new document. Press CTRL + V on your keyboard (alternatively by going to Edit->Paste)

In any event, press CTRL + SHIFT + ALT + S on your keyboard to open up the "save for web" tool (alternatively by going to File->Save For Web).
