    Re: What is Screencast

    A screencast is a digital recording of computer screen output, also known as a video screen capture, often containing audio narration. Just as a screenshot is a picture of a user's screen, a screencast is essentially a movie of the changes over time that a user sees on his monitor.

    Screencasts are really useful for demonstrating and teaching software features. Creating a screencast helps the software developers show off their work as screencasts serves as a useful tool for ordinary software users to help report bugs or to show others how a given task is accomplished in a specific software environment. Screencasts are excellent tools for learning how to use computers, and several podcasts have started to teach computer users how to use software through screencasts.

    Re: What is Screencast

    You can create simple and useful Screencasts using ScreenCastle.
    ScreenCastle is a free and simple Web application. With ScreenCastle, you can create and share screencasts very easily. With only few clicks, you can start recording all the actions you take on your computer and with only a few more, you can share them with the world.

    When you get to the ScreenCastle website, you will see the homepage with a large “Record” button. Once you click the button, ScreenCastle uses Java to launch a recorder.
    The first thing you'll do is - Choose the size of the screen (in pixels) to be recorded – a nice touch, because you may not want to capture your toolbar, or a particular window on your desktop.
    After choosing the size, click OK.
    At the top of your screen, you’ll see a red arrow, and a toolbar saying “Start recording.” click that...
    The recording will start. Once you start recording, ScreenCastle captures everything happening on your computer screen, from your mouse to your keyboard strokes, to videos playing on-screen.
    You can run the screencast as long as you need;
    When you’re finished, drag the mouse over the red line that appears at the top of your screen. That’s how ScreenCastle stops recording.
