Follow the following step to solve the problem...??
Control Panel and double-click Add New Hardware. Follow the wizard. Does this help?
Try installing the driver again.. It might help you.
did you activated the SD-Card service??
If not then do the following:
click Start -> Settings -> Control Panel -> Administrative Tools -> Services -> Smartcard; then start the smartcard service if not already did and enable it as a service.
A driver update might fix it. Do you know what the card reader controller is (it can be difficult to find out)?
Have you updated your windows? It contains a multitude of fixes.
Install SP3 there are 4 different hot fixes for card readers that are not in SP2. If you are that worried about SP3, create a RESTORE POINT before doing the update even though it will create one when it does the update. If you have bad problems due to SP3 boot into safe mode and uninstall it. SP3 is your best bet for a quick easy painless fix.
I solved my problem by testing the new card reader on my cousins pc and it didn't work, So the replacement works and the 2GB card is now readable.
