Internet explorer unable to connect to the internet

My Explorer cant connect to the internet. i cant download windows updates.
Icq keeps telling me no http tunnel is found, my antivirus is unable to find
the updates. Funny my messenger runs, my skype runs, my firefox runs.
Explorer suggests to check the firewall, i have checked this issue, and
unchecked and checked the boxes in firewall preferences, something is
blocking, can someone suggest a solution?

I am using Windows XP sp3 with IE8. Fully Updated
It works fine with Norton 2009.
But after running SpyBot this problem occurs d
I have similar problem with Norton 360. but for internet to work i have to format the whole system. Plz help me for the problem.

Try to follow the below steps:-

1. Click on Tools
2. Select Internet Options
3. Click on Security tab,then click on Custom Level button
4. Now Scroll down to Downloads: Automatic prompting for file downloads option over here click on Enable.
5. Finally click on OK.

My Problem is with WIN XP
Diagnostic tool saying no answer from HTTP HTTPS FTP sites
No port 80 found like this and tool saying just check Firewall, some setting in firewall changes
First time i have checked that NORTON 369 v2's Firewall having problem after reinstalling the windows i can connect to the enternet and also i can surf mean every web page openned. mean while i have install SPY BOT for check of malware.
After immunizing again i can only connect to the net but nothing open when i have typed a address in IE8. Diagnostic tool saying check your Firewall setting.

There may be some possibilities that your firewall settings may block the port which may be required by the internet to use it.
check your firewall setting where you could do some research on that site or else for a while you could disable the firewall settings.Or else you copuld have the following Thread discussion where you will get the solution to your problem.

Is it happening with every browser ? Have you tried the firefox? Did you tried the system restore to the date when it was working fine?

I have checked ur all links but my problem is not with Norton. or firefox nor Vista and Wireless .
I have done lots of R&D on that and comes to conclusion that some setting is changed but which i cant find it.
I have disabled the Firewall also But cant have the web page open.
I can connect to the net But IE and FF saying diagnose the problem.
It might be the malware but Spybot not showing it . also when i used Spybot's Immunize then i get the error .
