How did you go about installing the program (from a CD or from a network deployment)?
Did you have administrator rights when you did the install?
Does it provide you with an error code?
Do you have a supported graphics card?

You will have problems with any pre 2008 package. As well as that, make sure you have plenty of RAM. 4Gb is Ok!

I'm not sure where to find it in Vista, but in XP if you would go to
Start>Settings>Control Panel>System>Hardware>Device Manager ... then you could find your graphics card under Display Adapters.

Are you on Vista 32 bit or 64 bit?
Did you download the correct version for your operating system?

I'd also recommend checking this website's AutoCAD FAQ > Getting Started > Hardware / Software Selection regarding specifications for running 2008.

    &

I was referring more to the hardware aspect not so much the software. What are your computer specifications re: RAM and video card and CPU (AMD or Intel and which coprocessor by number)?

Here's something else that is usually overlooked. AC 2009 requires that you are running Internet Explorer 6.0 with Service Pack 1 (minimum) or later. If not, go to:

Good luck. Let us know what happens.
