    Gets ActiveSync 4.1 error 80070490

    Hey Guys,

Recently i had purchased a Hp laptop along with a PocketPC 2005. I had installed ActiveSync 4.1 on it. I tried to sync the device with Outlook, but it showed me the error 80070490 on my system. but one of my friend had Dell with PocketPC 2003 and had installed ActiveSync 4.1 on it which works absolutely fine. Can any body help me out to get rid of the above issue? ny kind of help would be appreciated.

    Thanks a lot.

Also, HP's manual defines three types of resets:

    • The soft reset:- Pushing the stylus in the reset hole.
    • The hard reset:- Pushing the Calendar and iTask buttons while pushing the stylus in the reset hole. This does not erase any programs or settings. HP says it's like a soft reset that also "resets all hardware registers" (whatever that means).
    • The clean reset:- Pushing the Calendar, Messaging and Power buttons while pushing the stylus in the reset hole. This does erase any programs or settings, similar to what we called a "hard reset" back in the pre-WM 5 days.

I had tried a soft reset, but didn't try a hard or clean reset. As I didn't have much data, I did a clean reset and that allowed me to sync my Calendar

I would (before attempting a re-flash and assuming you have backed up all your contacts and calendar stuff)
    1. Uninstall activesync from the device,.
    2. Uninstall activesync from the pc.
    3. Uninstall outlook from the computer.

    Then:-
    1. Reboot both devices
    2. Reinstall outlook leaving it in its default settings for now
    3. Reinstall activesync on both devices making a new partnership. Then sync. Add 1 contact and sync, then add i calender then sync. if that works then I would create second partnership and try to restore your contacts and calender stuff with the NEWLY created partnership. If all goes well then you can delete one of the partnerships and move on, if something goes wrong then you will still have one good partnership and I would start adding one contact or calender at a time and re-syncing untill you have isolated the culprit.

You only do a hard reset in WM 5.0 by pressing 3 keys and the styles reset

button together for four seconds. The buttons are:

    1 calendar

    2 messaging

    3 on/off

    4 Styles reset button

This worked for me, after this reset my 2750 synchronized all appointments, contacts and all the rest. Only when the appointments database is big (like more than one year) then the synchronization will take up some time like 2 hours this is normal and a problem of activesync from Microsoft. After the first complete synchronization it is better to synchronise by Bluetooth, this is faster and acceptable course only chances made are synchronizing.

Hope so this might help you out.

Have you tried any resets on the device. If you already uninstalled/reinstalled that leaves your outlook profile being a problem or the device. I would create a new outlook profile and sync to that if you receive the error again. It is probably the device. Try a hard reset and sync again.
