Hanging and mysterious blinking

Dear friends,

Firstly, when I boot up, the Windows XP desktop is displayed then nothing happens for a long while... this I can understand, because it is checking for updates, AVG antivirus is checking the system. Then I connect to Internet using USB stick Idea Netseter. Then the entire system hangs for several minutes, none of the keys, applications are working. But the dialup icon is blinking like mad and a lot of data is coming and going. This worries me because I am afraid my private data is being sent out by some rogue software. Is there anyway to check what is happening? AVG does not show any infection and I got rid of Cornfiker with great difficulty.

Is there no way we can get rid of Window$... world will become a far better place!

Some start-up programs may cause such behaviour...try disabling some heavy startup programs from msconfig... or

1) corrupt drivers
2) RAM malfunction
3) PSU problem
these might be the possible reasons.

that can be happen due to improper installation or its improper activation or key so check for that is proper otherwise reinstall it. while some time such problem can due to corrupt windows.
