I have a PS2 and my problem is that it is not at all working. So is it possible to play PS2 games on my computer with some emulator like pcx2 (or pcsx2, don't know which is correct). I am in search of free or OPEN SOURCE software.

You are correct. It is called PCSX2. PCSX2 is a PlayStation 2 (PS2) emulator for the Microsoft Windows and Linux operating systems. Many PS2 games are playable (although speed limitations), and several games are claimed to have full functionality. It is based on a plugin architecture, separating several functions from the core emulator. Additionally, PCSX2 requires a copy of the PS2 BIOS to operate, which is not offered for download by the developer, due to the copyright concerns and legal issues associated with it.
