display issue with Windows Live Messenger 2009

A friend has a display problem from couple of weeks ago. When he opens the Windows Live Messenger 2009 the resolution drops to 640x480. So he always has to correct the display manually. Is there a known problem with the display issues and Windows Live Messenger 2009?
Thank you

Re: display issue with Windows Live Messenger 2009

I don't like upgrading windows live messenger, and here's why: Every time I do, it loads slower! Sometimes it even doesn't works. And plus-there's almost nothing new in every new version. So I only want to have offline messaging(which isn't allowed in the 'oldest' version), and want to see if I get any emails.

Try running it in compatibility mode for Vista and it will minimize to the system tray, maybe it will stay there for you.

This problem can usually occur when Messenger it set into compatibility mode. To check, click Start, then Run, type "%programfiles%\MSN Messenger" and click OK. Right click on msnmsgr, choose Properties and then click the Compatibility tab. Make sure nothing is checked and then click OK.
