CRC Error in while opening rar files

Sponsored Links
hello to all,

I have the following problem: in many packed files when I unpack error messages. It does not matter where the zipped file comes forth (whether by internet download or cd or stick.

Now do you want to know how this message looks like ... as follows: "errors xy decompress the file. CRC - error. file or volume is incorrect?" said inetwa is the error message. I've already winrar, WinAce, unzip, etc probably. all say the same thing. otherwise, the computer data, but with the same programs open without problems.

Operating system: Windows XP

Pack Programs: WinRar, WinZip, WinAce, unrar (the latest version)

Re: CRC Error in while opening rar files

CRC cyclic redundancy check means, translated roughly cyclic redundancy check and include a test to ensure that files when copying / moving on the other side also correctly arrive. Say: it is a CRC value calculated before the transfer and thereafter. The voices do not match, the OS reports a CRC error. In your case it is a high probability on the faulty disk back. Let take a run Scandisk on, with even some hard-Test Tool, you can find almost all hard disk manufacturers on the Internet, friends and yourself so that they might exchange.

Re: CRC Error in while opening rar files

the rar format does allow for "Recovery records" unfortunately these are by default disabled and hardly anyone enables them.

Still, the help has this, doesn't hurt to try before you redownload.

This command is accessible both in file management and in archive management modes. It considers selected files or an opened archive as corrupt archives and attempts to repair it. To run this command use either Commands menu , "Repair" button on the toolbar or Alt+R keyboard shortcut.

WinRAR is able to repair only RAR and ZIP archives. WinRAR tries to detect the type of the archive automatically using archive data and extension, but user also may set an archive type manually.

Re: CRC Error in while opening rar files

Hi,

Try to repair the damaged volume. It helps sometimes if RAR recovery was used when creating archive. You may check for the presence of a recovery record in the archive using Show archive information command. Rename recovered volume, _recover.rar to the actual volume name and try to process your archive from the first volume to the newly recovered (if recovery were not used, WinRAR builds _reconst.rar).

Re: CRC Error in while opening rar files

Go to Winrar in the Start Menu. In winrar you click File > open and then select the files you want to unrar. Then you click the "extract to" icon and check the box that says "Keep Broken Files" under miscellaneous. Any CRC error windows that show up during the extraction you ignore/close.
